Donelson is an area I really like in Nashville. It has easy access to downtown via Lebanon Road or Interstate 40. Homes are still very affordable in the area. There are a lot of brick ranch homes with big lots and nice trees are here, as well as some neighborhoods of new construction.
Donelson reminds me of parts of East Nashville and Inglewood, which makes sense, because it’s right across the river from it. Donelson has all your everyday shopping stores and Opry Mills is located here. The Nashville Greenway is complete here with several miles of paved paths for biking, walking, rollerblades or whatever you fancy. I can actually ride my bike, from my house, in East Nashville to Donelson faster than I could drive there in the car. There is access to the Music City Star, a commuter rail which began operation in September 2006, so you can take the train in to work or play downtown.
Donelson in on the East side of Metro Nashville beside the airport. I personally love eating at Ellendale’s , Mirko Pasta, and Phat Bites Deli . One of the best rated Irish restaurants in the country graces Donelson, McNamara’s! Oh those Scotch Eggs!! There is a Skateboard Park, popular private and public schools, an awesome new dog park and lots of family activities in this area, including a very active YMCA program.
I predict that Donelson is going to be the next HOT SPOT for first time buyers in the Nashville area. Many other parts have gotten so expensive that people have been priced out. Donelson still offers affordable housing with SUPER close proximity to downtown and all major roads. Oh and Briley Parkway, I’m telling you, if you live near it, you WILL use it!
Homes start in the mid $100s and will continue to climb!
